Calla Lily a-la-Rouge
03/12/2012 - 1 minute readAfter studying the form and delicate nature of this lovely flower, the Calla Lily, I knew I had to just capture it and all it’s fiery beauty. And… I wanted to capture it realistically.
And so it began…I did a quick, very light sketch, whipped out my Copics, Prismas and Polychromos and immersed. I began to interpret and build it’s fiery redness, mixed with yellows and oranges and shades of violet. The curves and movement in this flower are what compelled me to want to draw it. It’s such a sassy flower. Unusual, with a style all its own. No two Calla Lillies seem to be the same.
I enjoyed the afternoon I spent creating this piece. More to come.
