I had planned a shot of my canvas storage when I ping’d off after I saw this book in my space. Yeah, I know, I ping’d, big shocker.
I’ve been a graphic designer for a long time, no secret. The evolution of design and how I do what I do has changed and it’s so cool to able to ride the tide. I started my career in graphic design when the work was done by hand, computers hadn’t quite gotten their footing and we used to complete everything, well, by hand. We used tools like a haberrule to spec type, proportion wheel, T-square, rapidographs and a laundry list of supplies. I think it’s when I began my complete addiction to art supplies, I digress…
Then and now… Pantone was the shizz. Back then, I had these chip color books… I’m fairly certain I still have them somewhere. They cost like a gazillion smackers, but oh the color goodness. They still sell them today, along with a whole host of designer and non-designer color tools, products and paraphernalia.
In fact, Pantone and Pantone Universe are the color source, period. Positioned as experts in color, with a whole line of products and marketing too boot. I feel compelled to engage. To buy some of the color goodness. I feel nostalgic. I am their target market. They got me…
I have the Pantone App on my iPhone… I’m an app girl and geeky like that. I know I have issues with color, you’ve seen my color cart. I’m not even trying to work on said issues. 🙂
Seriously, though check out the Pantone website. They are the color authority after all… And an immense source of inspiration.
And, BTW, I bought this book over a year ago, at Target in the children’s book aisle. I bought three and gave two away to designer friends…cuz they know… This is my favorite page.
It’s a color carnival of goodness and giggles. Have a Bacon Pink day… Cuz everything is better with bacon! SNORT…. Oh, and PMS 214… not really Bacon Pink, but oh so clever!
PMS 214…my favorite color EVER! How’s that for a declaration? What’s yours?
