Teaching and Being Inspired!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending a few hours working with these lovely ladies! The beautiful thing I find about teaching is that it doesn't matter if the class is small or large, the result is the SAME. Pure Inspiration! Pure Joy! It's one of those "goodness in between" things in life that I just enjoy. Between all of the spaces in "life's life" there is this pure moment of joy when you can share your talent and help someone else have their "A-HA" moment. And, for me, teaching/paying it forward just fills up my bucket!

Copic Ladies

These lovely ladies were in my Copic Marker class at PhotoScraps here in Maryland. This class was all about Properties of Light and Shadow. It's a bit advanced and a whole lotta fun. We walked through taking a one dimensional image (the sunflower I created) and giving it life and depth with COLOR. Shadows and shading, mixing and mashing COPIC COLOR together to get stellar results.

These ladies ROCKED it! I stepped them through doing a light and shadow study, planning and plotting where their light source would create shadow within the image…which can seem a little scary, but they really ROCKED it! This was a class all about getting out of the "SMOOTHIE COPIC BLENDING" mode to building texture and light and POP.  Lot's of laughs. Great fun!

AND… something amazing happened later that day!

These lovely ladies INSPIRED me to do this….  I took my sunflower illustration, image transferred it (tutorial coming on this concept) into my art journal and mix media'd it to life. They inspired me to get out some COLOR and get a bit messy. It didn't take a long time. Just a little quick page whipped out "in the spaces in between life's life."

Thank you ladies for such a lovely day!
